Apple Watch Series 7: Five Features of WatchOS 8 I love as a Sports Content Creator
Apple Watch Series 7 is available in Singapore from 15 October 2021
From new workout types, to updates for cyclists, a new Mindfulness app that expands support for physical and mental well-being, and a host of other cool features, watchOS 8's upgrades have taken me by surprise.
Having been fortunate enough to try out and experience the Apple Watch Series 7 myself, here are five things I personally love about the watch as a former athlete turned content creator who leads an active lifestyle:
1. Larger, Always-On Display
The largest retina display so far, a bigger screen compared to series 3 and series 6, and it is 60% thinner with more screen area without increasing the overall case size.
A brighter wrist down means you can check the time discreetly without raising your wrist or waking the display.
2. Enhanced Durability and Crack Resistant
The most durable Apple Watch yet, the Series 7 boasts a 50 percent thicker and more crack-resistant front crystal. Aluminum models have Ion‑X front glass, stainless steel and titanium models have sapphire front crystals. The fact that it has a water resistance rating of WR50 and dust resistance of IP6X also makes it ideal for pool, sea or beach sports.
3. More Intelligent Activity & Workout Tracking
No need to manually pause and restart at traffic lights, it will automatically detect and pauses for you. There are also 2 new workout modes in the form of pilates and taichi, and the option to share your activities with your friends for some friendly competition!
4. Fall Detection
Upgraded fall detection technology means any hard fall while wearing the watch allows you to contact emergency services, with new upgrades optimised for cyclists
5. Cellular Connectivity
Being able to make and receive calls on the go is a big win. Oh, and add replying to messages, and receiving notifications even when your iPhone isn't nearby to the list as well as part of enhanced connectivity in this watch.
This means you can run without your phone but of course, if you wish to disconnect from the world, you can still choose not to enable this feature.
